Fredericksburg Area Homesites

Many people come to Fredericksburg and decide to build rather than buy an existing home. Others choose to buy a home to move here quickly, then take their time building their dream home on a lot in town, a tract in a rural subdivision, or on a ranch.

First you need to decide, do you want to live in the city limits of Fredericksburg, TX, or out on acreage? The convenience of living in town is you know you will be able to get city utilities, better internet service, and save on driving time.

For others who want the full experience of living in the Texas Hill country, you may choose to buy several acres or more of land. While tracts in a rural subdivision will most likely have some deed restrictions, but you will have more room should you decide to build a workshop, a guest house, or try your hand at raising chickens or livestock.

Rural land means you will probably need to drill a well, unless one is already in place. When you build, you will install a septic system. Electric service is usually available or can be brought in if you have an easement from a neighbor. If you choose, a propane tank can be installed to serve your appliances, such as central heat, water heater, and your stove or cooktop.

Internet service depends on where you are located in Gillespie County, and can range from satellite service, to high speed fiber in certain areas of the county.
