Welcome! So glad you found my website. I am Melanie Lehmberg, a Real Estate Broker in Fredericksburg, Texas. So, a little about me.
I grew up in Houston, where I attended the Kinkaid School, then Texas A&M University and the University of St. Thomas. My father’s business was commercial real estate, but every few years, he and my mother either bought a home to remodel or they were building a new house. They made an impressive team, and our family dinners were filled with crazy stories about their past real estate deals.
Life in Houston was great, and as my family grew, I did my share of buying “fixer uppers” and moving every few years, but I always dreamed of living in the Texas Hill Country. In the summer of 2000, I decided to make the move. Selling my house in Houston was easy, lots of people were looking for homes in Briargrove. Finding a new home in a new town, well that was another story.
Finding a New Home or Land the Texas Hill Country
Communicating with a realtor long distance was a real challenge. It was so frustrating to see a property on the internet, only to find it was already under contract. Other times I would go weeks without an update, or I was sent listings of houses that didn’t meet my needs.
There was also a communication problem that can best be described as “everybody knows”. It was quite a learning curve to understand the information that the local people take for granted. I look forward to helping those new to the area learn all the ins and outs of moving to a small town.
That experience left a big impression on me and led me to get my Texas Real Estate license in 2002. I treat my clients the way I would like to be treated, with excellent customer service and great communication.
How We Chose to Live in Fredericksburg TX
My husband, Tim, and I moved to Fredericksburg and soon after he accepted the position as Director of Economic Development for Gillespie County. It has been very exciting to see how many new people choose to come to Fredericksburg, either for a weekend or to buy a home for retirement or move their business here. We have found it didn’t take long to get used to small town life, and we don’t miss the traffic of the city one bit!
